Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC)

Our missionaries made it to Utah!

The last time either of them were in Utah they were this old …

So it’s been about half a lifetime ago.

The Arrival

Natalie gets a phone call from Nephi, “Mom we made it! We are on the shuttle to the training center. The shuttle driver let us borrow his phone to call you!”

This was a tender mercy; one of many! As our missionaries got to the MTC they received a phone of their own and were assigned dorms in the same building, just one floor apart. Every night, Nephi would go down the stairs to see Elijah and chat for the small amount of free time they have right before bed. As they see each other in the hallways they’d call out “ELDER POOOOOOOOOOL!”

The Training

Language training has been challenging but they are both making progress! They are hopeful for more progress once they are in country and immersed in the language and culture.

And then there’s more training ….
Hours and hours of training every day. There is not much time for anything else. You know what they say about an idle mind! Elijah grabs a quick selfie with his study buddy.

The Temple Trips

Each of them were able to make three temple trips while in Provo! Temple attendance was the top priority at the MTC.

The Singing??

That’s right!! Nephi and Elijah both sang in the MTC choir. They happened to sit in the same row just a few seats away from each other.

June 26th Elder Kearon, Elder Bednar, Elder Uctdorf, Elder Christoferson and other members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles visited the MTC. Hundreds of new Mission Presidents came together for training and to be sent off to their new missions.

Nephi and Elijah sang in the choir for the event. “The Church News” covered the event and took many pictures. The one picture they took of the choir managed to capture both of our missionaries!!!
