Mission Papers

Christmas morning of 2023 our family ate breakfast and read scriptures as we always do for Christmas. Instead of opening presents, we opened our laptop. By request of Nephi and Elijah, there were not any presents this year. We were saving the money that would have been spent on presents to purchase the items needed for them to serve missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

We sat on the couch, gathered around the laptop, completed the necessary paperwork to serve missions and we sent it to our Bishop. It was exciting with a hint of anxiety. We didn’t know where Nephi and Elijah would serve but we knew that it was what Heavenly Father needs them to do.

The process took quite some time but on March 12th, 2024 both boys received an email explaining where they would serve and when to report to the Missionary Training Center (MTC). Nephi is to serve in the Philippines and Elijah is to serve in Chile!

We were so excited! Elijah prayed for a mission that would teach him Spanish. He wanted to feel closer to his Latin roots. Nephi’s only consideration was that he did NOT want to go somewhere cold! His body does not retain heat very well. An island was perfect.
